me and craft: recycle fabric pillow cases

Saya suka sekali membuat sarung bantal dari kain bekas

maupun baru. Dari mulai beli kainnya, memadu madan

hingga membeli isinya. Tapi saya tidak menjahitnya sendiri.

Ini beberapa sarung bantal yang saya buat baik untuk dijual

di bazaar maupun untuk barter dengan teman. Jangan tanya

ada berapa bantal yang saya punya ya:))

These are some of the pillow cases I made from vintage

and second hand fabrics, mix of Japanese and Indian cotton

and all. I love making pillow cases. Not that I sew them

myself, but the whole pick and choose and mix and match

are enough to make me really excited about the results.

Some of these are sold already, and some I made as a gift

and the rest are just piling up in my tiny room. Heaven!

Do you prefer to repair or to replace?

Selama beberapa tahun terakhir ini saya mencoba
untuk tidak dengan cepat membeli barang baru
kalau memang masih bisa diperbaiki ataupun
mendandaninya supaya tidak dibuang begitu saja
karena bosan. Walaupun saya tidak menjahit
mesin, namun beberapa kali dalam sebulan saya
akan memanggil tukang jahit keliling dan memperbaiki
barang-barang dari kain milik saya termasuk yang
saya dapat di pasar barang bekas.

For the last couple of years I have been into
repairing my stuff rather than throw them away
or replace them with a new one. For my fabric
stuff includes those that I got from second hand
and vintage market therefore a couple of times
a month I will ask a mobile seamster to repair
all my fabric stuff like this.How about you?

An amazingly pretty display

Saya tidak sengaja melihat meja display untuk
pameran ini di ruang rupa pada suatu siang.
Langsung saya foto saking takjubnya dengan
semua helai kain yang hanya dilem sedikit atasnya
dan ditumpuk-tumpuk menjadi sebuah tempat
memajang karya yang luar biasa cantiknya ini.

I saw this exhibition display at ruang rupa, one
of the biggest art collective in Jakarta one afternoon.
And when I take a closer look, all these fabric
pieces were just being glued on its tip and not
a single sewing involved! Awesome work, guys!

a place where all the quilters go

Beberapa kali setiap kali ke Bandung saya menyempatkan ke
Kedai Teko ini untuk merasakan dimana waktu seolah
melambat diantara hijau pepohonan tua yang rindang,
secangkir teh mangga hangat, celoteh dan tawa teman-
teman serta tentu saja sebuah ruang kecil penuh kerajinan
perca yang luar biasa cantiknya.

Maybe. Because this one cafe in Bandung called Kedai Teko
(Teapot Cafe) has this small room underneath their cafe for
selling patchwork and also open for courses too. This place is
one of those place where time stood still in beautifully quiet
mood. 

Mom and her big piece of art

Ini ibu saya dan quilt besar yang sedang dia usahakan untuk selesai

minggu ini. Sudah setahun ibu saya belajar membuat quilt dan 

selama itu pula saya sangat bersyukur memiliki ibu yang kreatif,

sehat, seru dan bisa diajak ngobrol lama tentang kain dan kerajinan

tangan serta segala sesuatu mengenainya. Ibu saya keren ya!

This is my mom and her big piece of quilt that she's been trying

to finish for the last couple of months. She's been learning to make

quilt and patchwork for the last one year. I am so so grateful for

having a mom that still active, creative and full of life that we can

talk about everything for hours! You rock, mom and I love you.

vintage patchwork quilt how I love thee

Saya selalu mudah jatuh cinta dengan sarung bantal perca,
apalagi yang secantik ini. NestaHome membuat banyak

Especially like these vintage patchwork quilt that NestaHome
make. Every single piece of it just so so pretty. Perfect size,
mix of scraps and colours. I could totally see several of them
